(May 29, 2018, 5:25 p.m.) -- Federal prosecutors moved to drop the charge against an El Dorado Park South resident arrested after his former girlfriend, Ildiko Krajnyak, was killed by a packaged explosive at her Aliso Viejo business on May 15.

Stephen Beal was never charged with the deadly explosion but with allegedly possessing an unregistered explosive device after law enforcement agencies searched his ELB home. Neighbors indicated Mr. Beal builds model rockets as a hobby.

A court document, filed by federal prosecutors May 26, indicated questions had arisen about whether the device met the federal law's definition of a "destructive device."
