(May 20, 2018) -- Mayor Robert Garcia's office continues to stall release of materials sought by LBREPORT.com under the CA Public Records Act related to Garcia's self-described "#GoLongBeachTour." LBREPORT.com requested the records over a month ago. To date, Garcia's office has provided nothing.

As a result, LBREPORT.com is unable to independently report matters including how the Mayor selected with whom he meets or doesn't meet, including their names; groundrules for the meetings; what he says or doesn't say in the meetings and what he's asked and what he says in response. Instead, information is filtered through the city government's social network channels, its TV channel, Garcia's Tweets and Facebook dispatches (including slickly produced videos), some of which are spread by other incumbents or his allies or perhaps some chosen to participate. They're the sole source of information about what's taking place at taxpayer expense. On Friday (May 18), LBREPORT.com wrote the City Attorney's office about compliance issues raised by the actions of Mayor Garcia's office in this matter. To our knowledge, LBREPORT.com is the only LB news outlet doing this. We're not an echo-chamber for officialdom. We're independent in our words and actions. We'll let you know what happens next. #GoLongBeachTour #GoLongBeach #MayorGarcia #LongBeach #LBREPORT
