(May 21, 2018, 9:43 a.m.) -- A steady stream of visitors participated in the 7th annual Long Beach Water Dept. Lawn to Garden tour and festival on Saturday May 19, taking a self-guided tour of 17 LB homes whose owners replaced their water-consuming lawns with sustainable, drought-resistant gardens. Additional visitors stopped by the LB Water Dept's HQ for a festival that included exhibit booths, a sustainable plant sale, music and food.
Below is a photo gallery of three homeowner locations we visited in the Cal Heights-Bixby Knolls area plus a look at the Lawn to Garden festival. LBREPORT.com also webcast LIVE video (available on-demand below) from the homeowner locations we visited, where the homeowners described their gardens for us. This year's Lawn to Garden tour spotlighted locations from SE LB's 3rd Council district and LB's central-northwestern 7th, 8th and 9th districts, but these were just an illustrative sample; many more Long Beach homeowners at locations across the city have made the lawn-to-garden changes.
