16 Yr. Old Murdered (Nov. 2), Multiple Gunshot Wounds, 1000 Block E. Anaheim St.
(November 5, 2001) -- LBPD says that on Nov. 2 at roughly 6:15 p.m., responding officers found a 16 year old LB resident, Chhavarath Chheav, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the 1000 block of East Anaheim St. The site is in the 6th Council district. LB Paramedics transported the young man to St. Mary Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Police say their preliminary investigation indicates the suspect may have been on foot and is only described as a male Asian or Hispanic. LBPD adds that the motive for the shooting, and if it is gang related, is not known at this time.
