"Drago" LBPD K-9 Is Found...At Downey Animal Shelter
LBPD photo | | (Nov. 5, 2003) -- "Drago," this LB police dog who'd been missing since Nov. 4, was been found...at LA County's Downey Animal Shelter.
Drago had apparently made his way to Lakewood...and a Lakewood resident summoned Southeast L.A. County Animal Control. He was taken to the Downey shelter on Monday Nov. 4...but this wasn't discovered until Wednesday Nov. 6.
It seems "Drago" didn't have an ID chip implanted. If he'd had the ID chip, he would have been returned to his rightful owner -- LBPD -- immediately. (Drago now has an ID chip implanted, thanks to County animal authorities.)
LBPD Public Information Officer Greg Schirmer tells LBReport.com that LBPD will be undertaking a comprehensive review of its K-9 program to avoid repeating this scenario. |
