(Nov. 29, 2005) -- In a touching, quiet ceremony along Orange Ave. at 37th St., family and friends gathered and lit candles at a memorial tree and lamppost memorial plaque to remember Caitlin Finucane, who perished in a traffic accident at the location a year ago.
The early evening gathering on Nov. 28 brought hugs, tears, flowers and recollections.
Those attending ranged in age from teens to adults. Caitlin's parents were present.
Caitlin's High School classmates created ribbons and special clothing in her memory.
Heartfelt messages appeared next to a Queen Palm planted at the site a year ago as a living memorial.
The Palm is now a sizable tree just south of the memorial lamppost.
The lamppost includes a plaque, placed last year by the CA Heights Neighborhood Association assisted by the office of Councilwoman Tonia Reyes Uranga, which says: "In Memory of Caitlin Finucane: May Your Light Always Shine Upon Us."
