(Nov. 17, 2006) -- A Thursday night armed robbery in ELB's popular Spring/Palo Verde area targeted an electronic games store...and items allegedly demanded by the robbers included the new "PlayStation 3" (whose Friday debut set off a frenzy across the country).
Details are sketchy in this preliminary report but LBPD Public Information Office Nancy Pratt had this initial information.
At about 9:30 p.m. on Nov. 16, two suspects, allegedly armed with handguns, entered an electronic games store in the 6400 block of east Spring St. and proceeded to rob the store, demanding electronic games including the new "PlayStation 3."
No one was physically injured and the suspects fled the location.
The ELB armed robbery got the attention of 5th district Concilwoman Gerrie Schipske who said in a statement released by her office:
"I am very concerned about this incident, and I am thankful nobody was hurt. I am working with the Police Department to increase patrols in this area. This serves as a reminder for stores and shoppers to be mindful of crime prevention measures that can be taken during the holiday season."
LBPD asks anyone with information to contact its Robbery Detail at (562) 570-7464.
