Tonight's meeting, billed as a Community Meeting, is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. at Wilson High's Media Center, 4400 E. 10th St.
In October, city staff held a meeting on the project at Rogers Middle School, billed as a "joint community meeting and EIR scoping meeting"....and drew criticism from longtime environmental lawyer Mel Nutter...who said the scoping meeting didn't include the type of project description necessary to provide comments for EIR scoping purposes. (To view LBReport.com coverage of the October meeting, which includes video of Mr. Nutter's comments and city staff's response, click here.)
A City Hall flier for tonight's meeting describes it as follows:
Project Process: Currently, the project is in the Conceptual Site Plan Review phase.
This includes preparation of an Environmental Impact Report. The developer will be
requesting changes to the zoning for the site, PD-1 (SEADIP) in order to allow
residential use, which is currently prohibited, and to allow buildings taller than the
current height limit of 35 feet. Several additional community meetings will be held before
the project is scheduled for a Planning Commission hearing. After Planning
Commission, approval from the City Council also will be required...
