| (Nov. 8, 2012, 9:21 a.m.) -- Data released by the L.A. County Registrar/Recorder (all precincts reporting but unofficial, not yet final figures) indicate that in the LB-west OC 47th Congressional district race, State Senator Alan Lowenthal won, and Councilman Gary DeLong lost, in every Long Beach City Council district in which they were on the ballot (Council districts 1-7 and part of district 8 (Bixby Knolls and southward).
Lowenthal carried DeLong's own 3rd Council district, outpolling DeLong by about 1,000 votes out of roughly 18,600 votes cast. DeLong came closest to beating Lowenthal in ELB's 5th Council district where he trailed Lowenthal by only about 500 votes out of nearly 19,000 votes cast. In Long Beach figures:
In the 44th Congressional district (includes part of NLB), Congressional incumbents Janice Hahn and Laura Richardson were on the ballot against each other in part of LB's 8th Council district and were the only two Congressional candidates on the ballot in the 9th Council district. Richardson edged out Hahn by about 60 votes in the 8th district and lost to Hahn by about 200 votes in the 9th district [and overall].
