(Nov. 4, 2015) -- LBREPORT.com shares photos below from Steve Brown who captured last night's lightning when an isolated but intense storm cell passed by Long Beach in the 7:00 p.m. hour.

National Weather Service radar showed most of the cell was offshore...but some of the lightning appeared to be close to home.

We asked Mr. Brown where he was and how he got the shots: He tells us:

"Nothing added...just adjusted color balance slightly. Top of Signal Hill facing harbor area. 8 seconds, f-stop 8, ISO 200. Tripod with cable release. Actually what happened...no doctoring to lightning."

The National Weather Service issued a Special Marine Advisory as the storm cell headed southward hugging the coast. From a few miles inland in ELB, we saw lightning flashes spanning several minutes (and heard the crackles on an AM radio) but didn't hear thunder.
