(Nov. 26, 2016) -- One area resident said the car was completely wrapped around a tree in the Studebaker Rd. parkway at Driscoll St. (south of Atherton) with very little left of the car. He described it as the worst he'd ever seen.
LBFD Public Informaation Officer / Captain Mark Miller tells LBREPORT.com that at about 4 p.m. on Saturday (Nov. 26), a single vehicle crashed into a tree in the 1500 block of Studebaker Rd. LBFD crews responded and used the Jaws of Life to extricate two adults from the wreckage -- in critical condition -- and LBFD transported them to a local trauma center. [Scroll down for further.] |
In total, 13 LBFD personnel were on scene to handle the emergency, PIO Miller says, adding that a utility pole with telephone and cable lines was also struck and dislodged...but no power outages were reported. There's no immediate word on what caused the accident...however the National Weather Service monitor at LB Airport (a few miles NW of the accident scene) recorded rain through much of the 2 p.m. hour with lighter rain in the 3 p.m. hour.
