(November 13, 2016, 10:50 a.m.) -- A crowd of estimated to have reached roughly 600 people marched from Bixby Park (Ocean Blvd/Cherry Ave.) along sidewalks to downtown Long Beach, then returned along Broadway to Bixby Park last night (Nov. 12) in a peaceful but pointed protest against the Nov. 8 election of Donald Trump as the next President of the United States.

Plans for the LB demonstration spread organically via Facebook but unlike anti-Trump actions in L.A. and some other cities, LB's event didn't include vandalism or intentional disruption of traffic. Participants made their points with chants ("this is what democracy looks like") and a variety of signs that didn't mince words (ranging from "Not My President" to "F**k Trump.") Multiple photos and videos are on the event's Facebook page at this link.

LBPD Public Information Officer Sgt. James Richardson says one person was arrested for allegedly blocking the street/drunk in public and officers didn't have to use force in making the arrest at Ocean Blvd/Alamitos Ave. There were no reports of any damaged property.
