(Nov. 9, 2016, 5:15 a.m.) -- Long Beach's iconic 49'rs Tavern (5560 E. PCH @ Bellflower Blvd.) became a de facto Donald Trump victory venue on election night (Nov. 8). Owner Tracy Kittinger (who spent years working as a LB political consultant) anticipated a Trump victory and spread word via social media that her Tavern's multiple large screen TVs would display election results instead of sports.

Word spread organically via Facebook and a number of LB-area Trump supporters (including members of LB's Cambodian community) decided it would be a good place to spend election night.

In local election night results:

  • Janice Hahn will join L.A County's Board of Supervisors, succeeding exiting Supervisor Don Knabe (who'd endorsed her opponent, Steve Napolitano.)

  • LB medical marijuana outlets will re-open under terms of petition-initiated measure MM and will be taxed by City under City Council-written Measure MA

  • Voters approved LBUSD-written Measure E, which will require LB property owners to pay roughly $60 per $100,000 of their property's Assessor-assessed (not market) value each year for LBUSD school facilities improvements/upgrades.

  • Prop 57 passed, enabling the release of what it defines as "non-violent" convicted felons.

  • Prop 64 passed, allowing adults to use marijuana for recretional purposes

  • County Measure M appears to have received over 2/3 voter approval, imposing an additional half-cent sales tax for Metro transportation projects.

  • Prop 67 passed, lets CA legislature's statewide ban on single use plastic bags take effect (meaning LB residents won't be able to avoid LB plastic bag ban by shopping in Lakewood.)
