(October 22, 2001) -- Just weeks after a double-murder in the 6100 block of LB Blvd. shocked the community, a Sunday shooting in the 5900 block of Orange Ave. has left more NLB residents uneasy. LBPD reports a 19 year old man was shot in the lower extremities as he stood in an apartment stairwell. Police say the victim, a Compton resident, ran into a nearby apartment, collapsed and was taken to LB Memorial Hedical Center where he died in surgery. LBPD describes the suspect only as a male African-Americana and say the suspect walked up to the victim as he talked with two women. Police say a possible vehicle involved in the shooting is a newer model green car. LBPD asks anyone with information to call Homicide Detectives Mark McGuire or Scott Lasch at (562) 570-7244. |
