(October 8, 2002) -- Citing recent LB attempted kidnappings, LBPD's Crime Prevention Unit has invited all community members to attend Child Safety Forum, an informational meeting "to raise the level of child safety awareness in the community."
It will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 7 p.m., at Burnett Elementary School Auditorium, 565 E. Hill St. in the Wrigley area.
In a written release, LBPD encourages parents "to bring their children as Crime Prevention Officers will be on hand to care for the children and teach them basic child safety techniques."
Detective Craig Newland from LBPD's Sex Crimes Detail will be on hand "to provide an overview of the recent incidents and information on the Megan's law database. Crime prevention officers will also provide additional information on child safety."
Translation will also be provided in Spanish and Khmer.
