(October 3, 2002) -- A quiet, low crime ELB residential neighborhood has been shaken two decidedly urban crimes committed within blocks of each other.
LBReport.com was first alerted to this by a reader (thank you) and subsequently confirmed specifics with LBPD.
On Sept. 30 at approximately 8:35 p.m., a robbery took place in the 2600 block of Josie Ave. near Palo Verde/Willow in the 5th Council district. Police say the victim was blindsided by several men who knocked him to the ground, kicked him, took an undisclosed amount of property and ran from the scene.
Meanwhile, at roughly 8:30 p.m. (both times are approximate), an attempted carjacking took place in the 2600 block of Nipomo Ave., four blocks east. The suspects asked for the victim's car keys, she walked calmly into her house and called the cops...and the suspects left.
LBPD responded with ground units and a helicopter but the suspects are on the loose. At this point, police say they don't know for certain whether the two crimes are related.
