    Noon Hour NLB Murder, 6900 Block Paramount Blvd.


    (October 18, 2002) -- A noon hour shooting in a NLB restaurant has taken the life of a man in the 6900 block of Paramount Blvd. in the 9th Council district.

    The victim, identified by LBPD as a Hispanic adult, was seated in a restaurant booth with another subject when police say the suspect approached him. LBPD says the suspect spoke briefly to the victim, they walked toward the front door, the suspect produced a handgun and began to shoot the victim, striking him several times.

    The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

    The suspect is described as a male Hispanic adult. He fled the restaurant on foot in an unknown direction. Police say the motive for the shooting is under investigtion.

    Anyone with information about the crime, or persons inside the restaurant at the time of the shooting, are asked to contact LBPD Homicide Detectives Richard Conant or Bob Erickson at (562) 570-7244.
