NLB Fatal Shooting, 200 Block Orchid Lane; LBPD Says Two Men in Car Shot At A Man Running Away

(Oct. 2, 2003, updated 4:40 p.m.) -- Police say two men driving in a car fired shots at a man while he was running away -- and killed him -- in NLB on October 1.

In a written release, LBPD says that at about 8:20 p.m., officers responded to the 200 block of Orchid Lane in the 9th Council district regarding a shots call.

The preliminary investigation indicated that a black Lincoln Navigator with two male Hispanics was driving in the area and shooting at the victim who was running away from the vehicle.

The victim, an unidentified male Hispanic roughly 35 years of age, was struck once in the upper torso. He fell to the ground and the Navigator drove away. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.

Police have no motive for the shooting and are asking anyone with information about this crime to contact LBPD Homicide Detectives Steven Smith or Scott Lasch at (562) 570-7244.
