(October 13, 2004) -- With a city management-backed proposal to expand LB Airport's permanent terminal area facilities expected to return shortly to the City Council, the Los Altos Neighborhood Association South (LANAS) has called public meetings for Weds. Oct. 13 at Bixby Elementary School (5251 Stearns St. near Clark) and Thurs. Oct. 14 at Minnie Gant Elementary School (1854 Britton Dr. at Atherton) -- both meetings from 6:30-9:00 p.m. -- to discuss the latest developments.
LANAS president Joe Sopo tells LBReport.com that the meetings will explain "where we are with Airport expansion...and will alert residents to recommendations of a City Hall-appointed Airport Advisory Commission, adopted on a 6-3 vote, that are expected to come to the City Council sometime in November. That's where we can have a real say in the outcome."
Among those expected to attend the two neighborhood meetings are LB's two newest Councilmembers: Los Altos area Councilman Patrick O'Donnell and Bixby Knolls area Councilwoman Rae Gabelich (the latter, the founder and former president of LBHUSH2).
Also expected to attend is Bruce Alton, one of the three members of LB's "Airport Advisory Commission" who voted not to recommend city management's proposed expanded sizing of the Airport's permanent terminal area facilities.
Additional speakers are expected on Airport related topics and environmental impacts.
The Oct. 13 and 14 meetings are open to the public.
