84 Yr Old Man Dies In WLB Hit-And-Run, Santa Fe @ Burnett

(October 3, 2004) -- An 84 year old LB man, using the north crosswalk at the intersection of Santa Fe Ave. and Burnett St., was struck and killed by a vehicle on Saturday Oct. 2 at roughly 9:30 p.m..

LBPD determined that a vehicle traveling northbound on Santa Fe Avenue ran the red light, striking pedestrian Kenji Yoshizumi who subsequently died from his injuries.

LBPD says the suspect vehicle is described as "a newer dark colored Dodge Ram pick-up truck with tinted windows and chrome rims... last seen traveling northbound Santa Fe Avenue toward eastbound Willow Street and southbound the 710 freeway...The Dodge Ram sustained major front-end damage during the collision."

Anyone with information about what took place -- and information regarding the above suspect vehicle -- is asked to contact LBPD Accident Investigations Detective Brian Watt at (562) 570-5520.
