(Oct. 15, 2012) -- Gunfire was heard in part of the 8th Council district on Sunday afternoon and a man was shot in the neighborhood just west of LB Blvd. and south of Market Street.
LBPD Public Information Officer Lisa Massacani says that on October 14, 2012 at roughly 1:00 p.m., LBPD offficers responded to the 100 block of West Mountain View Street, where a man (adult) was hit by gunfire in front of an apartment complex after an altercation with several persons. The suspects, described as male blacks, fled the scene in an unknown vehicle. As separately reported by LBReport.com, a little less than nine hours later, there was a shooting in the south Wrigley area at PCH/Pacific (coverage, click here). LBPD says the suspects in both shootings are at large...and anyone with information on the shootings can contact the Gang Detail at (562) 570-7370. Anonymous tips via text or web may be submitted via www.tipsoft.com. As previously reported by LBReport.com, the City Council voted on Sept. 4 for a FY13 budget that cuts LBPD funding and will result in the elimination of half of the police department's anti-gang unit.
