On behalf of my mother, Jeanie San Jose, and all of the San Jose family, we would like to thank all of you for your kind words, thoughts, hugs and prayers over the loss of Bobby San Jose Thursday, at 5:50 pm.

As many of you know, Bobby was a bright shining star at St. Joseph's, Hill, Wilson, and UCLA that peaked at age 23 during a summer with the Los Angeles Rams.

To us, Bobby was so much more than a quarterback and had so much other potential. Bobby struggled finding his way and continued chasing his passion for playing semi-pro football over the next 15 years and worked in sales at JCPenney, doorman at Legends, helping at DiPiazza's and even coached a women's semi-pro team.

Bobby was truly giving and kind, although he expected everyone to be the same. Bobby's true empathy and compassion shined brightest as a caregiver.

In response to all of you that have asked about funeral arrangements and where you can send cards or assistance to Jeanie San Jose, please send c/o Law Office of Jon San Jose, 5222 E. Los Altos Plaza, Long Beach, Ca 90815.

UPDATE Oct. 29 re services: The Funeral for Bobby San Jose is now scheduled for Friday, November 8, 2013, 11 a.m., at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 6220 E. Willow Street, Long Beach, CA 90815. Internment to follow at All Souls Cemetery.

Brother Jon San Jose sends this message on behalf of familymembers, "Thank you for continued prayers and kind words for Bobby and our family. Cards to our mother, Jeanie San Jose, may be sent c/o Law Office of Jon San Jose, 5222 E. Los Altos Plaza, Long Beach, Ca 90815."

LBREPORT.com knew there had been a serious accident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the roughly 3800 block of Bellflower Blvd. in the early evening Sat. Oct. 19...but that's all we knew until now. At the location, we saw Bellflower Blvd. blocked to soutbbound traffic (west side of the street) as police conducted their investigation.

In response to an inquiry yesterday by LBREPORT.com, LBPD Public Information Officer Marlene Arrona says [initial information] that on Oct. 19 that officers responded to a vehicle/pedestrian collision on Bellflower Blvd. @ Harco St. at about 7:10 p.m.; Mr. San Jose was transported to a hospital in critical condition; the driver remained at the scene and the accideent wasn't a hit & run.

In 1986, Bobby San Jose was a star quarterback at Wilson High (with talents in basketballl and baseball) when police arrested him for allegedly offering to sell cocaine to an undercover officer. Teenager San Jose denied the allegation; prosecutors didn't file criminal charges against him; he completed his high school studies at home and went on to UCLA.

LBREPORT.com expresses our condolences to the (very large and extended) San Jose family.
