LBFD Public Information Officer / Firefighter Jake Heflin tells LBREPORT.com that the midafternoon blaze near the 405 freeway brought Engine 7 (first on scene) to the scene of a well-involved residential structure fire (a two story building) and ultimately displaced a family (not present when the fire broke out.) PIO Heflin says eight engines, two trucks, three rescues and two Battalion Chiefs ultimately responded to the scene. (It wasn't a brush fire, as initially assumed below by a webposter.) Two firefighters sustained 2nd degree burns (blistering) and a third firefighter had a twisted ankle in battling the blaze. PIO Heflin described the fire as challenging to extinguish, with extensive overhaul and salvage operations. Multiple crews had to rotate in and out, PIO Heflin said. The fire's cause is currently undetermined and under investigation. blog comments powered by Disqus
