LBPD Arrests Woman They Say Is Mother Of Two Toddlers Found Alone On North Long Beach Street

(Oct. 31, 2014) -- Following a series of fast breaking developments reported as they happened on LBREPORT.com's front page, LBPD issued a statement at late afternoon today (Friday Oct. 31) indicating it has arrested Shenae Dixon, 23, and booked her on charges of Child Abandonment and Child Endangerment after LBPD identified her earlier in the same day as the mother of two toddlers found alone a day earlier on Atlantic/60th St. in North Long Beach.

LBPD said in a statement that Dixon was located at the intersection of Firestone and Alameda in Los Angeles after a tip was provided to police by a witness who recognized Dixon from photographs posted by earlier news broadcasts. LBPD's statement said L.A. County Deputies from the Century Station responded to the intersection and took her into their custody; LBPD Detectives responded to the L.A. County Sheriff's Department Century Station and picked Dixon up.

LBPD says Dixon was transported to LBPD HQ where she was interviewed by detectives on her whereabouts for the last 24 hours. "The preliminary investigation leads detectives to believe Shenae Dixon [age 23] had [allegedly] endangered and abandoned her children. In the interest of not wanting to jeopardize the integrity of the case, no further details on this crime can be shared at this time," LBPD says in its statement.

As of Friday afternoon, Dixon was being held at the LB City Jail on $100,000 bail and is expected to be arraigned sometime early next week. The children are in the custody of the Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS) which will determine where the children will be placed.

A day earlier (Thurs. Oct. 30), the story broke with LBPD issuing an alert seeking the public's help after a passer-by saw two small children (rougly one and two years of age) alone in the area of Atlantic Ave./60th St. and called police. LBPD said at the time that all L.A. County law enforcement agencies, as well as the five surrounding counties, were notified, and area hospitals were alerted. The next morning (Fri. Oct. 31), LBPD issued an advisory identifying Dixon as the mother of the children...and indicated it was concerned about her well-being.
