LBPD Public Information Officer Nancy Pratt tells LBREPORT.com:

  • On Oct. 3rd, at roughly 3:12 p.m., LBPD responded to a residential burglary call in the 3100 block of Elm Avenue. Investigating officers learned that the resident returned home to find the rear security screen door to the residence open, Although the door had been forced open, it didn't appear that anyone had entered the home and no loss was reported.

  • A little over two hours later on Oct. 3 at about 5:25 p.m., LBPD responded to a residential burglary in the 500 block of E. 31st Street. The resident told officers that on returning home discovered the residence was burglarized. On further inspection, officers determined that the suspect(s) had entered through a bedroom window. The resident lost electronics and jewelry.

PIO Pratt says the investigations are ongoing and although the incidents occurred close in time and proximity, LBPD can't say at this point that they are related, but it is possible that they are. LBPD asks anyone with information regarding the two crimes to contact LBPD Burglary Detective Lorri Peck at (562) 570-7351.

The initial version of this story identified the area of "Wrigley Heights" which we have corrected to identify as "Memorial Heights."
