(Oct. 25, 2016) -- Gunfire struck two vehicles -- although no persons were hit -- in the neighborhood southwest of the Traffic Circle in the 4th Council district on Monday night Oct. 24.

LBPD Public Information Officer Sgt. Brad Johnson tells LBREPORT.com that at about 10:55 p.m., officers were dispatched to a shots call in the area of Ransom St. and Loma Ave. Officers found evidence of a shooting with two vehicles hit...but no persons hit. LBPD's investigation is ongoing. (We're double-checking to see if either of the two vehicles was occupied; for now we're listing what took place as shots to unoccupied vehicles.)

To our knowledge, it's the furthest east that LBPD-documented gunfire has occurred in nearly three years (our map is cumulated from Jan. 1, 2014.) Under former Councilman (now Assemblyman) Patrick O'Donnell, and under current incumbent Daryl Supernaw (since May 2015), the 4th Council district has had a number of shootings (some fatal) but they've mainly been concentrated at the western end of district (which borders the 6th district at Gardenia Ave., just west of Cherry Ave.) Monday night's gunfire was east of Redondo Ave.

2014 to date: Red Xs=homicides; Blue Xs= shootings, person wounded; Brown Xs=shots fired at victim(s), not hit; Purple Xs=shots at occupied residence/vehicle; Green Xs= shots at unoccupied vehicle/residence; Grey Xs=shots fired (no hit, no target identified); Orange X's=non-fatal stabbings. Map is unofficial. A separate map (not shown here) indicates add'l shootings in NLB.
