(October 19, 2017, 8:20 p.m.) -- A man (adult) was hit by gunfire shortly before dawn on Wednesday Oct. 18 in LB's historic Willmore City neighborhood (1st Council district).

LBPD Public Information Officer Nancy Pratt tells LBREPORT.com that on Oct. 18 at about 5:00 a.m., officers were dispatched to shots-heard call in the 500 block of W. 9th St. (near Magnolia Ave.) and found a victim hit by gunfire.

A familymember took the victim to a hospital with what appeared to be a non-life-threatening injury.

Officers then spotted a vehicle that matched the description of a suspect vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled. A short pursuit followed in which the suspect vehicle was abandoned near 25th St./Pasadena Ave. LBPD's investigation is ongoing.

LBPD asks anyone with information about what took place to conduct its Gang Enforcement Section at (562) 570-7370. Anonymous tips may be submitted through "LA Crime Stoppers" by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), downloading the “P3 Tips” app to your smart phone (available at the Apple App store and Google Play), or visiting www.lacrimestoppers.org.
