    Sept. 20-22:

  • Queen Mary Free To LB Residents & City Employees This Weekend
  • Also Free To Lakewood, Seal Beach, Signal Hill & Los Alamitos Residents And City Employees
  • Caveat: There is a Parking Charge...And Need Proof of Residence or City Employment

    (September 20, 2002) -- If you live in LB, Lakewood, Seal Beach, Signal Hill or Los Alamitos, or work for one of their City Halls, the Queen Mary is for free for you this weekend (Sept. 20-22).

    Caveat: There is a charge for parking.

    In a written release, the QM advises that in honor of the ship's 35th anniversary in LB, residents of LB and the above area cities, and city employees, and come aboard free. You'll need current proof of residence or city employment.

    The release says local visitors will receive a "complimentary self-guided ship walk tour that takes guests from stem to stern, including Historical Exhibits, Wheel House, Isolation Ward, Officers Quarters, Wireless Room and more."

    Attraction hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

    The release notes that "additional tours are available for $8 and include a Behind the Scenes Guided Tour or World War II Guided Tour. Admission to the Russian Submarine, Scorpion, is available for $10."
