LBPD Says NLB Gang Member Is Armed, Dangerous & Suspect in Murder of Bellflower Man

(Sept. 4, 2002) -- LBPD says the man to the right, 30 year old Jeremy Jones of NLB, is believed armed and dangerous and is a suspect in the murder of 30 year old Erick Leonel Martinez, also known as Erick Zaldana, of Bellflower.

Police say Jones is a known gang member and uses the moniker "Yum Yum." He's 5'9"tall and weighs 210 pounds.

LBPD says that on August 28, it began investigating the kidnapping of a 30 year old man in the 100 block of West Trafford St. (NW corner of LB, west of LB Blvd. between Victoria and 91 freeway). A day later, LBPD recovered the body of a deceased man from the trunk of a vehicle in the 1500 block of South Chester St. in Compton.

At that time, LBPD couldn't confirm if the body was linked to the kidnapping...but the L.A.County Coroner's office ID'd the body as that of Martinez/Zaldana and LBPD confirmed Martinez/Zaldana was also the victim of the kidnapping and says the two crimes are connected.

Jeremy Jones, alias "Yum Yum," is LBPD's suspect in the kidnapping and murder.

LBPD believes he is armed and dangerous. If you see him, do not attempt to encounter him. You should call 911 immediately.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Jeremy Jones is urged to contact LBPD at 911 or contact Detectives Richard Conant or Robert Erickson at (562) 570-7244.
