(Sept. 1, 2003) -- The body of a woman was found inside a vehicle parked in a garage in the 3400 block of Hathaway Ave. (south of Stearns, east of Redondo, runs diagonally to Outer Traffic Circle) on Sept. 1 at about 1:37 p.m...and shortly thereafter the victim's husband was taken into custody in Nevada.

In a written release, LBPD indicates it responded to a missing person report and met family members at the residence of Debra Lynn Ashlock, age 36 of LB, who had not been seen for several days.

In searching Ashlock's residence, officers discovered the deceased body of a woman inside a car in the residence's garage. The body has not been identified yet but investigators suspect it might be that of Ashlock.

A homicide investigation began and shortly thereafter Ashlock's husband was arrested and booked for the murder of the body found in the vehicle.

The suspect, Richard Benn, 48 years old of LB, was arrested by Las Vegas Metro Police after he was located near the Nevada-CA state line.
