(Sept. 23, 2005) -- A Port of LB Environmental Impact Report on a proposal by a Mitsubishi-Conoco subsidiary to build and operate an 80+ million gallon Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) facility on Pier T may be released as soon as the second or third week in October.
Port of LB spokesman Art Wong tells LBReport.com that the document is very, very large...and staff is aiming for roughly Oct. 10 or Oct. 17 although an exact release date isn't set yet.
By law, the document must circulate for public comment for a minimum of 45 days. Asked if the Port would extend that time period, Mr. Wong said such a decision would be up to the Port's governing board of Harbor Commissioners.
Mr. Wong also said PoLB staff is working to make the EIR available in hard copy form (including copies at local libraries) as well as in digital form on CD and on the internet.
