(Sept. 2, 2006) -- LBPD is alerting LB residents to an alleged attempted sexual molestation of a minor in the vicinity of Anaheim/Walnut on August 31.
LBPD Public Information Officer says officers responded to the area in response to a possible child molestation; a young victim described an alleged assailant; police canvassed the area; officers found a person matching the description whom the victim identified as the alleged assailant; police arrested the subject who's now in custody facing police charges of alleged kidnapping, lewd conduct with a child under 14, possession of marijuana and providing false information to police officers. The individual also allegedly has an outstanding warrant for a child molestation case in Boston, MA which LBPD is looking into.
PIO Wong says that in the August 31 LB incident, the subject allegedly approached the young victim and was going to offer him money for a sexual favor; the boy refused; the subject allegedly forced the boy around a corner and was in the process of preparing to molest the child when the victim managed to flee and contacted a police officer.
