(Initial breaking post Sept. 24 evening, updated a.m. Sept. 25) -- An early Sunday evening (Sept. 24) freeway shooting on the northbound 405 in the Westminster vicinity (Seal Beach Blvd. area) triggered a response from LBPD officers and dispatchers...whose quick work led to a suspect at a Lakewood location...where LBPD detained a suspect and turned him over to CHP.
CHP says in a release that at about 6:10 p.m., LB resident Rema Angola was northbound in the #1 (fast lane) of the 405 just south of the 605 freeeway, and Don Lee Stevenson was driving in the nortbbound lane next to him in lane #2...and allegedly fired several rounds from a semi-automatic handgun at Angola.
CHP says the shooting was witnessed by several motorists in the immediate area [!] amd a license plate number of the alleged shooter's vehicle was relayed to LBPD 911.
LBPD officers responded to the suspect's residence in Lakewood where was detained...and arrested by CHP (Westminster area) and booked into the OC jail.
The victim's wounds are not believed to be life-threatening.
On early Sunday eveing, ELB residents saw police activity in the area of Studebaker and Willow which LBPD says was related to a witness.
