(Sept. 25, 2012) -- LBReport.com has learned (via a reader tip, thank you) and confirmed with LBPD that a shooting occurred on Thursday night Sept. 20 basically a few blocks north of a September 21 murder, both in the 1st Council district.

LBPD Public Information Officer Sgt. Aaron Eaton says that at about 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 20, a 26 year old man (a Long Beach resident) was walking in the area of the 1200 block of Magnolia Ave. (just south of Anaheim St.) when he was confronted by suspects and shot multiple times. He was taken to a local hospital with what are described as non-life-threatening injuries.

The Thursday night shooting came roughly 24 hours before a fatal Friday night shooting in the 700 block of Chestnut Ave. (about a block east and about five blocks south of Thursday's shooting).

On map at right, Red X's indicate 2011 and 2012 murders; Blue X's indicate shootings since Aug 2, 2011 (when Mayor/City Mgr. debuted their proposed FY12 budget); Purple X's=shooting with person not hit; Green X=shooting at a residence/building. Yellow X=shooting at vehicle. Not all non-fatal shootings are shown, only those we learn about.
