(Sept. 28, 2014, 7:25 a.m.) -- A fatal shooting took place overnight Sunday (Sept. 28) in the 1100 block of Walnut Ave. (south of the Anaheim St. corridor midway between Cherry and Orange Aves.) Initial information is sketchy. LBPD Public Information Officer Sgt. Brad Johnson tells LBREPORT.com that at about 1:25 a.m., offiers were dispatched to the area of Walnut Ave./11th St. regarding a shots call. On arrival, officers found a male victim [no age info at this point] suffering from a gunshot wound. LBFD paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene...and as of dawn there's no one in custody, PIO Johnson says. We'll update this story as we learn more. It was the second weekend shooting in Long Beach within about four hours. At about 9:30 p.m. on Saturday night (Sept. 27), a man was shot and wounded roughly eight blocks due north of Long Beach City Hall in LB's downtown-adjacent Willmore City neighborhood.
