LBREPORT.com has learned that the incident response included a police helicopter overhead and multiple police units on the ground in the 10 p.m. hour.
We expect to update this story with additional LBPD information which may be available later today (revisit this page; click reload/refresh for updated text.) LBPD online crime data also indicates on Aug. 19, a residential burglary was reported roughly a block east in the 100 block of Argonne Ave. As previously reported by LBREPORT.com, recently-elected 3rd dist. Councilwoman Suzie Price (who has voiced concerns about residential burglaries) made a successful floor motion at the Sept. 2 Council budget enactment meeting to amend the management/Mayor proposed budget (pushing back initial resistance from Vice Mayor Suja Lowenthal) to firmly allocate an additional $350,000 for LBPD to address residential burglaries. Councilwoman Price, named by Mayor Garcia in July to chair the Council's Public Safety Committee (Price, Austin, Mungo) has scheduled the first meeting her Committee for 12:00 noon on Sept. 5 for a "recommendation to receive and file a report on property crimes in Long Beach and suggestions for combating property crimes" and a "recommendation to receive and file an overview of the Park Ranger Program." The Committee, previously chaired by Garcia, last met in February 2014. LBREPORT.com plans to carry the Committee meeting LIVE on our front page: www.LBREPORT.com.
