LBPD data on crimerpeorts.com indicates that a residential burglary occurred on Sept. 23, 2014 at 9:48 p.m. [which may be time reported to LBPD; unclear.]
On September 3, a residential burglary occurred in the Belmont Shore area in the 100 block of St. Joseph Ave. (just south of 2nd St.) LBPD online crime data also indicates on Aug. 19, a residential burglary was reported roughly a block east of the Sept. 3 residential burglary in the 100 block of Argonne Ave. The latest Belmont Shore residential burglary comes.just weeks after the City Council adopted (Sept. 2 and 9) a FY15 City Hall budget that on motion by 3rd dist. Councilwoman Suzie Price allocates $350,000 more than Mayor Robert Garcia recommended for LBPD to deal with residential burglaries...but provides no additional budgeted police officers for taxpayers after previous Councils cut roughly 200 officers since Sept. 2009. Councilwoman Price, named by Mayor Garcia in July to chair the Council's Public Safety Committee (Price, Austin, Mungo) scheduled the first meeting her Committee for an agendized "recommendation to receive and file a report on property crimes in Long Beach and suggestions for combating property crimes" and a "recommendation to receive and file an overview of the Park Ranger Program." The Committee made no voted recommendations to the City Council on either item.
