LBPD Public Information Officer Marlene Arrona says that at about 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 28, officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of Ximeno Ave. (north of PCH, south of Los Coyotes Diagonal) regarding a theft from a business. Arriving officers determined that two men (adults) fled with merchandise [amounting to a grand theft] and drove away in a dark colored vehicle. No one was injured; LBPD's investigation is ongoing, PIO Arrona says. A few days earlier (as previously reported by LBREPORT.com) an ELB business two miles north on Los Coyotes Diagonal at Woodruff became the victim an early morining burglary (losing cash, liquor and lotto scratchers.) And on Sept. 9 (as also previously reported by LBREPORT.com), an ELB business in the 4300 block of E. Carson St. became the victim of a commercial burglary. Earlier this month (Sept. 2 and 9), the City Council voted without dissent to approve a FY15 City budget recommended by Mayor Robert Garcia that funds a new "Economic and Property Development Department" but provides taxpayers with no additional budgeted police (after previous Councils cut roughly 200 officers in budget votes since Sept. 2009.)
