(Sept. 22, 2014) -- LBPD activity, visible at Lakewood Blvd./Willow St. in the overnight hours and then repeated at midmorning Monday (Sept. 22), stemmed from a transient (man/adult) who allegedly threatened another transient (man/adult) claiming he had a gun and would shoot him and burn his house down.

LBPD Public Information Officer Sgt. Megan Zabel says officers arrived shortly after midnight, learned that the reporting/victim didn't actually see the suspect with a gun, and the suspect only threatened to have one...and the suspect and victim knew each other and had a personal disagreement. As precaution, officers surrounded a brush area just off the 405 freeway at Willow/Lakewood, searched the area (assisted by LBPD helicopter "Fox"); didn't find the suspect but took a report and cleared the area shortly after 2 a.m.

A few hours later at about 8:52 a.m., the victim called police again, said the suspect had returned to the area...and police located the suspect who at midday was detaied for investigation.
