Do These Candidates In November Election Have Consent To Put Their Campaign Signs On Someone Else's Private Commercial Business Property? We Asked Them And They Said...

(Sept. 26, 2014, 7:05 p.m.) -- The photos below were taken on Sept. 24, 2014 in the 2200 block of Bellflower Blvd. on the eastern side of the street on a light pole in the shopping plaza parking lot.

State Senate candidates Janet Nguyen (R) (a member of the OC Board of Supervisors) and Jose Solario (D) (an OC Community College Trustee and former state Assemblyman) are running against each other in a newly drawn district that has had no state Senator for the past two years due to redistricting. Mason Inocentes is among a field of several candidates seeking election to the governing board of the LB-area's Water Replenishment District.

On Sept. 26, LBREPORT.com emailed the Solorio and Nguyen campaigns via their listed media contacts and also emailed the Inocentes campaign via its Facebook page. We inquired for publication if their campaigns have the consent of commercial property owners or lessee/renter operators where their campaign signs have been affixed on private property in Long Beach and in other cities. We requested a copy of a statement attributable to the candidate in connection with a story we stated that we were preparing and requested a reply by 5:00 p.m.

As of 7:00 p.m., below are the responses we received:

Janet Nguyen (R for state Senate)No response
Jose Solorio (D for state Senate)Campaign's media rep contacted us by phone at midafternoon, said our message would be conveyed to the candidate for a response if he wishes to do so. No response as of 6:00 p.m. Sept. 26
Mason Inocentes (Water Replenishment Dist Board)No response

The location in the 2200 block of Bellflower was formerly the site of a campaign sign printed/assembled by an independent expenditure committee ("Friends of Long Beach") in support of Robert Garcia for Mayor. [Another firm may have been hired to "disribute" the signs.] Asked in February 2014 after a press event at which he endorsed Garcia about his role in the independent expenditure committee, Mayor Foster told LBRegister reporter Josh Stewart "you don't see my name on it." In May 2014, Foster told reporter Stewart that he was no more than a fundraiser, and when people ask him how they can make a donation he shows them how they can contribute.

LBREPORT.com has also seen Solario and Nguyen signs in other locations on private property light poles, including on 2nd St. just west of PCH.
