(Sept. 10, 2015, updated 11:55 a.m. from 5:25 a.m.) -- A man was fatally shot in the midnight hour today (Sept. 10) in the area of [updated more precise location] 2100 block of Pasadena Ave. (6th Council district) and LBPD says in a release at midmorning that the motive for the shooting appears to be gang-related.

It's the second fatal shooting in a little over two days (a Sept. 7 fatal shooting in the 1st district was about four blocks north of City Hall) amid multiple shootings (hit and no hit) in the 6th and 1st Council districts plus at least one non-fatal shooting in NW NLB.

LBPD overnight Watch Commander Lt. Mark Coble tells LBREPORT.com that at about 12:41 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Hill St. (betrween Elm and Pasadena Aves.) to a report of a shooting...and arrived to find a man (appeared to be in his mid-20s) down in the street, who had been shot. The officers performed CPR on the victim until paramedics arrived and took over...and the victim was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Lt. Coble says it's unclear exactly what type of gun was used; LBPD homicide detectives and a lab unit were on scene and working through the predawn hours; there's no immediate suspect information and LBPD's investigation is ongoing.
