(Sept. 19, 2015, UPDATED 10:25 p.m.) -- LASD has provided some additional information about a man found shot to death in the San Gabriel River channel. LASD says he was 24 years old,...and found at the bottom of the embankment in the San Gabriel Riverbed. In an update this evening (Sept. 19), LASD says that about 10:30 a.m., Lakewood Station deputies responded to the San Gabriel Riverbed just north of Carson Street, Lakewood, regarding a "male not breathing" call. Deputies arrived to find a 24-year-old man lying on the ground at the bottom of the embankment in the San Gabriel Riverbed. The man was suffering from one gunshot wound to the upper torso. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, his name not being released at this time pending next of kin notification. [Scroll down for further.] |
LASD says its investigation is ongoing, and no further information is available for now. It asks anyone with information about what took place to contact LASD's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500. (Sept. 19, 2015, initial report 1:20 p.m.) -- A man has been found shot to death in what LASD describes as the "San Gabriel Riverbed" north of Carson St. in Lakewood. [Unclear to us from LASD's advisory if the man was found in the riverbed itself or along the bikepath/pedestrian path.] An LASD advisory says the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
