(Sept. 4, 2015) -- In an email advisory today, LB Airport indicates that on Monday, September 7, additional USMC aircraft will be arriving at LB Airport, including three MV-22 Ospreys, two AH-1 Cobras, two UH-1 Iroquois, and three UH-60 Black Hawks.

In addition, the F/A 18 aircraft that have been conducting training since Thursday Sept. 3 are tentatively scheduled to depart on Monday Sept. 7 at 4:00 p.m., and a C-130 Hercules is scheduled to arrive on Monday evening Sept. 7 after 10:00 p.m.

"The aircraft will be conducting training prior to deployment. They are noticeably louder than other aircraft and are easily heard in neighborhoods near Long Beach Airport," says the Airport advisory.

(Sept. 3, 2015) -- As previewed on our front page as an advisory earlier today, U.S. Marine Corps F/A-18 aircraft [sorry, we don't know how many] arrived on Thursday (Sept. 3) at LB Airport and will [LB Airport release text] "conduct daily operations throughout the Labor Day weekend" AND there'll be public opportunity for a "meet and greet" (info below.) before they're scheduled to leave on Monday, September 7 at 4:00 p.m. (LB Airport Facebook photo, right)

We saw and heard some of the aircraft in the area in the 3:00 p.m. hour (the "sound of freedom" some dispatches on Facebook commented.)

The LB Airport dispatch states:

"The U.S. Marine Corps has consistently demonstrated a desire to assist LGB in being a good neighbor. The F/A 18 aircraft operations will be restricted to daytime hours. F/A 18 aircraft are noticeably louder than other aircraft and are easily heard in neighborhoods near Long Beach Airport. The aircraft will utilize noise abatement procedures when operating in the vicinity of Long Beach, including modified arrival and departure flight profiles and minimum use of afterburners."
