(Sept. 9, 2015, updated Sept. 10, 6:45 a.m.) -- There's good news and bad news regarding the heatwave: the Nat'l Weather Service has revised its forecast Thursday high -- 102 forecast for 90808, 98 for 90815 and 90807, 95 for 90802 BUT the agency indicates some cooling is expected to begin Friday, with more cooling on Saturday. Tropical conditions prevailed on Wednesday Sept. 9. It rained in ELB at late afternoon. By evening, a blanket of humid air settled over the L.A. basin, hugging the coast (Nat'l Weather Service Doppler Radar image right). At 9:53 p.m. Sept. 9, the Nat'l Weather Service monitor at LB Airport recorded an astonishing 89 degrees with 41% humidity (creating a heat index that felt like 90 degrees.) Earlier on Wednesday (Sept. 9) shortly before 2 p.m., the National Weather Service monitor at LB Airport recorded 103 degrees with roughly 27% humidity, producing a heat index (felt like) 106 degrees nearing 2 p.m. And now that's predicted for 90808 on Thursday...but by Friday, the Nat'l Weather Service predicts 94 for 90808, and 93 Saturday, down to the low 90s in 90807 and the high 80s in 90815, and cooler along the shore.
