Team Spirit LB Breast & Ovarian Cancer 5k/10k Walk/Fun Run Is This Saturday Morning; Yes There's Event-Morning Registration

(Sept. 25, 2015) -- Saturday Sept. 26 is the annual Team Spirit Breast and Ovarian Cancer 5k walk and and 10k fun run.
The event is now in its 16th year...with funds generated going to [website text] "enable Long Beach Memorial to offer patient care programs, such as a Support Group for gynecological cancers and unique peer mentoring through Women Guiding Women. Team Spirit Long Beach has also helped fund a full time social worker to assist patients through their treatment process."
This year's route goes along the shore, starting from the Granada Boat Launch, heading west to downtown and then returning back (map is at this link.)
...After being personally touched by both of these diseases, Team Spirit was formed in 2000 as a small grass roots organization. Team Spirit consisted of volunteer survivors and friends, working for those fighting, and in honor of those who have lost their battle. Team Spirit has collaborated with Memorial Medical Center Foundation at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center since its inception.
We are proud that our original mission has taken root in this community and become a driving force in philanthropy to benefit women and men in and outside of Long Beach looking for nationally recognized medical care of breast and ovarian cancers.
We are proud to be walking and running for Long Beach Memorial, as it is one of the top hospitals in the nation, and the proceeds from the monies raised go directly to fund breast and ovarian cancer support groups and treatment at MemorialCare's Todd Cancer Institute.
Waking in memory of those who have courageously gone before us, for those fighting every day and for those who have not yet started their fight.

Yes, there's event day (early Saturday morning) registration ($70). Check-in and registraton opens at 6:30 a.m.; opening ceremonies start at 7:45 a.m.; the 10k fun run begins at 8:00 a.m., with two waves of 5k walkers at 8:25 a.m. and 8:30 a.m...and the event goes till about noon.
And yes, Team Spirit accepts donations to Memorial Medical Center Foundation/Team Spirit throughout the year. The event website is at this link.
