The Eastside Voice will hold its kick-off meeting on Sunday afternoon Sept. 17 at the El Dorado Library, 2900 Studebaker Rd. from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. A dispatch on NextDoor.com announces the "inaugural meeting of The Eastside Voice," a "newly formed neighborhood association for Council Districts 4 and 5." It states: "Don't let them give away our neighborhoods! The city is about to approve a plan to change zoning [initially land uses] all over Long Beach. This new zoning will allow: high density developments (apartments, condos, townhouses and mixed use developemnts)...decreased parking...increased traffic, pollution and crime." [UPDATE] Meanwhile, a separate group of residents -- labeled by one its organizers as Density Watch -- will hold its second neighborhood meeting for 5th Council districts residents on Saturday Sept. 16 at 6:30 p.m. at 2909 Ostrom Ave. The organizers' of this group -- Kimberly Costas, Angela Kimball and Ramen Vashishth -- held their first neighborhood meeting over Labor Day weekend which drew roughly sixty people to a South of Conant area home (LBREPORT.com coverage here.)
