(Sept. 8, 2018. 3:50 p.m.) -- A man was shot/wounded on Friday night Sept.7 in the 1400 block of Rose Ave. (6th district, north of PCH, west of Cherry.) The shooting comes a little over two weeks after a brazen midday double-shooting a few blocks due west in the 1400 block of Walnut Ave.

LBPD Public Information Officer Nancy Pratt tells LBREPORT.com (preliminary information) that at about 11:00 p.m., an officer spotted a vehicle driving erratically and was trying to conduct a traffic stop when the vehicle pulled into a hospital's parking lot and the officer noticed that the vehicle's male adult passenger had been struck by gunfire.

The victim received treatment for his injuries (that appeared to be life threatening) and "through their investigation, the officers determined the victim had been in the area of 14th Street and Rose Avenue at the time he was shot," PIO Pratt says.

LBPD is investigating what took place as possibly gang-related.

As previously reported by LBREPORT.com, on Aug. 23, a double-shooting took place in the 1400 block of Walnut Ave. at about 1 p.m. in which two boys were shot/wounded and suffered "non-life-threatening" wounds.

LBPD asks anyone with information regarding Sept. 7 shooting to call its Gang Enforcement Section at (562) 570-7370. Anonymous tips may be submitted by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), texting TIPLA plus your tip to CRIMES (274637), or visiting www.lacrimestoppers.org.
