SEE IT: Hard Fought, Hard Loss For Millikan Homecoming: Cabrillo 26, Millikan 13

(Oct. 11, 2014) -- It wasn't what Millikan High's Homecoming crowd came to see. Many ELB fans in the filled bleachers expected Millikan's 7-6 halftime lead to hold -- and confidence grew with an 80-yard Millikan touchdown run in the second half -- but a strong showing by WLB's Cabrillo High combined with a disastrous fourth quarter for Millikan (including turnovers/interceptions) put Cabrillo on top with a final score of 26-13.

LBREPORT.com's LIVE and ON-DEMAND VIDEO streaming was provided by Dan Halverson (WebCastLongBeach.com) who successfully overcame complex internet challenges. These included a digital bandwidth issue that cropped up (despite pre-testing) during the game's second quarter. Mr. Halverson scrambled to solve the problem...and had it cured by half-time.

Mr. Halverson took special efforts to ensure an independently solid wireless web connection (not tying up campus WiFi) and sent video using professional grade equipment. LBREPORT.com treated our first sports webcast as a prototype and advised readers that possible internet issues could arise...and a digital issue during part of the second quarter was rectified by half time.

Kevin Fielder, a teacher in Millikan's English Department, provided accurate and professional P.A. announcements. Here's how he does it.

Millikan's Homecoming Queen is announced.

Millikan High's administration was supportive of the pioneering webcast effort, and LBREPORT.com has committed to provide Millikan High with over half of all advertising revenue locally for our VIDEO webcast of this event. Thank you, Cirivello's, for making this possible.

LBREPORT.com specifically thanks Millikan High Assistant Principal Ben Martinez for his consistently detailed follow-through; Millikan High English teacher Kevin Fielder (whose very pro P.A. descriptions are heard during our webcast); Millikan High technical/operational expert Osvaldo Rios, Millikan website expert Thomas Sutfin, all overseen by Millikan High Principal Jeff Cornejo.

LBREPORT.com is also grateful to Thom Simmons, Dir. of Communications with the Southern Section of the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) for his guidance.

And we thank our readers/viewers for your kind words, much appreciated.
