(Mar. 5, 2019, 11:05 a.m.) -- LBREPORT.com is saddened to report the passing of Janet Lerch, wife of retired LB Vice Mayor/9th dist. Councilman Val Lerch. Mrs. Lerch waged a courageous 15 year battle against MS. In a Mar. 4 Facebook message yesterday, retired Vice Mayor Lerch wrote:

It is with great sadness that I must let you know that my loving wife of 48 years as gone to meet her maker...Her family were able to visit her and spend some time. [On Monday] 3/4/19 she left this world. Vicki and I were there at her side.

She will be missed by everyone who ever met her. She was a Saint in the truest sense of the word.

[Updated] Memorial services will be held on March 18 at St. Cornelius, 5500 E. Wardlow Rd. at 11 a.m. [end Update] Thank all of you for your prayers and thoughts.

Within less than 24 hours, over 160 messages filled Mr. Lerch's Facebook page; below are just some of those from his City Hall year (not a complete list):

When a familymember fights a debilitating, relentlessly advancing illness, the entire family effectively fights alongside them. We believe that was so with the Lerch family and especially Janet's loving husband Val, who valued each day with Janet until those days ran out.

LBREPORT.com extends our heartfelt condolences to the family and their many friends.
