    As We Begin Our Fifth Year

    (August 1, 2004) -- We are grateful to our readers for what we write below.

    In August 2004, will enter its fifth year of publication with the highest number of page views we've recorded in a single month to date: 55,000+ in July 2004 (figure not unduplicated). believes the internet is sui generis, a unique medium all its own. We believe people use it differently than print, radio or television. We believe they expect more from it, not less.

    Our cutting-edge local content is a matter of record on LGB, WNV, LNG, PoLB, QM, AQMD, LB's deficit, LB crime, LB's Pike and LB-impacting Sacramento and Washington, D.C. stories. Proudly independent, has reported LB stories that others wouldn't and with depth that others haven't. We pioneered the swift internet delivery of breaking LB events. We presented visual stories with a dozen or more color photos, not a handful in black and white.
